Hola folks! DVid here on this kinda
cold and snowy Sunday morning, at least that is what it is like here
where I am at. Now I am writing this little blog here today to give
you some insight as to what is going on with DVids World. Now right
now I am in the middle of trying to figure out just where I am going
to be taking Shoofly, which has started to make a turn from a simple
joke a day, to getting a bit more story involved and much more like
the comic books that I grew up on. The problem that I am having is
that I never planned any of this stuff, and there for am finding it
hard to figure out where I am going with everything. But that is not
your problem, that is mine, and I will figure it out. Now another
thing about the stuff I put up on here, is that I do my stories in
seasons, and right now we are in the middle of the first season of
Shoofly, which may or may not end around number 100. What I intend on
doing is this. Not @ All will be my mid season replacement for
strips, running three days a week, while the main season comics will
be four days a week. There are a few ideas I am playing around with
for the other three days of the week, and they may or may not be art
related. One thing that I am going to play around with for now is
that Saturdays will contain the weeks blog and notes, and Sundays
will be my day off. Granted everything I am saying and planning now
could eventually change when, and if, I feel like things need to be
changed. But I will let you all know with the weekly updates. So with
that I am going to leave you with a little pinup that I did a while
back.
Saturday, December 29, 2012
Here is a nice little pinup that became a Not @ All comic. Why is it a Not @ All? Well because his butt crack is hanging out there. And because, like the title says, it is not at all what you think it is. See that was the original point of Not @ All, that it could be what ever the hell I want it to be, pinups, one panel comics, comics with alot of panels, or even just a stupid sketch. It's what I feel it is, and that is what I want to bring it back to.
Now tomorrow I may or may not have any art for you, it all depends on how quick I can get something up. But either way, I will have a blog that will discuss what my future plans are for this little piece of the internet that I call home. If you are a fan and are interested, I would check it out, but then again I like me :-)

Just a quick not for everyone. The past few strips, and even some of the future ones are going to be kind of rushed. So I am going to be cutting back on a few things, mainly the written parts of the blog, and the Sunday pinups, and maybe even the Not @ All stuff. I want, need, and think that people deserve art that had been better prepared and had more time put into it. There is more I want to say, but will be holding back for now so I can further explain some future plans I have in store.

And with that, I think it is time we call it a day, or night, depending on what part of the country you are on. Untill next time, I will catch ya all later.

And a merry Christmas to you all out there. I hope you have all awakened to wonderful gifts and all the things that your heart did desire. Well now that the mushy crap is out of the way let us move on to some other business. I am about to start work on the after Christmas stuff of Shoofly, and if I can ever pull myself away from my game, I will start mapping out some of next years story lines. That's right, there will be story lines. Im not going to say what I have in mind, as it can change before I put it down on paper, or computer screen as it would seem to be with me. But it is some stuff that I am hoping will gather the attention of more people so we can really start to build a much larger audience. Now before I let you all go here, I do have another Christmas poem to share, a quick one that I jotted down. Here it is.
It is here, it is here,A time of joy,
A time of cheer,
all the girls,
and all the boys,
wake up early,
to play with toys,
in the kitchen,
cooks a turkey,
cooks a ham,
for its is Christmas sir,
it is Christmas ma'am,
fill a cup,
and have sip,
pour some brandy,
and have a nip,
maybe just a slice,
of the fruit cake,
would be nice,
still in the kitchen,
dinner cooks,
turkey, beef or ham,
for it is Christmas sir,
it is Christmas ma'am.

Alright then gang, that is going to do it for Christmas with Shoofly. Sorry I did not have a funny cartoon for you, but sometimes it is damn hard to write something funny every day, as you can tell from my track record. Anyways, have a good rest of the holiday, and check on back again tomorrow.

A Merry Christmas Eve to you all out there in the internet land. This was a tough one to do today, as I have recently rented a new game that I wanted to try out before I decided to go out and buy, and the game has slowly but surely taken over my life. But I made sure to make time to do some drawing, and update this ol home of the characters of Shoofly. I also have a little poem that I would like to share with you all here today, just a little something that I jotted down for the Christmas season. A quick side note about tomorrow. See with tomorrow being Christmas and all, and me having some major trouble coming up with something cool for a Christmas comic, I drew up something that does not really tie into this story. But I still want to try and do one that does tie in. So I am going to try my hardest to come up with something extra for everyone, but if not I do have some goodies for Christmas.
And now let us end with a little Christmas Eve poem that I put down on paper for you.
Upon this wonderful night,
one is to believe,
that magic does exist,
here on Christmas eve,
For it is this night of all,
when you'll hear bells that jingle,
as fast he approaches,
him, Kris Kringle,
A man of such girth and wonder,
who will holler out ho's,
while the children slumber,
He will slide down the chimney,
a sack full of goodies,
only to stop,
for some milk and cookies.
one is to believe,
that magic does exist,
here on Christmas eve,
For it is this night of all,

A man of such girth and wonder,

while the children slumber,
He will slide down the chimney,

for some milk and cookies.
Alright then folks, that will do it for today, check back again tomorrow for the Christmas special, and to all a wonderful night.

Sunday, December 23, 2012
Hola! And a happy Sunday to you fine
folks. Today is the eve to Christmas eve. And that means we are doing
our last Christmas pinup. Although I guess you could say that this
one here is not so much a Christmas themed one as it is a winter
themed one. But either way, I liked the way this turned out and
thought it would make a fine little pinup for today.
Well I guess it is time for the last
letter to Santa.
Dear Santa,
Hello there you chubby bastard. In case
you don't remember me, I was the kid that kicked that mall Santa in
the nuts after dropping his pants. You thought I was a bad boy for
doing that, as I received a lump of coal that Christmas with a note
telling me where I could stick it. Well I just wanted to let you know
that this year I was just as bad, as I am sure you already know. But
this year I will be up waiting for you, so I can take your advice on
that lump of coal, but I will be sticking it up your furry butt. Then
I plan to cook me up some reindeer steaks as you scream from the pain
of passing that kidney stone you fat bastard. See you soon Santa.
-Greg
Well that is one terrible little pain
in the ass. But I have to admit, it would be funny to see that
happen. Well that is it for today, check back tomorrow for my
Christmas Eve special, until then, I am off to find me an elf hat
that says "Gandolfs little helper"

It is the weekend before Christmas, and
I am hoping that I can sit on my butt and enjoy it the way it should
be enjoyed, watching TV and eating junk food. I hope that everyone
out there is enjoying this weekend before the holiday's as well. But
before all of that is going to happen, lets take a look at the final
Not @ All Christmas themed comic.
And here is another letter to Santa
Claus.
Dear Santa,
All I want for Christmas this year, is
a free pass for one day to be as bad as I want to be. I have been
good for every day since I was born. Dammit, I am tired of being
good, but I want presents, so you see the dilemma I am in here. So
that is why I want a free pass on one day. A day to get drunk, get
high, punch an old man in the face, and sleep with a hooker with out
paying for it. I don't think that is too much to ask for. Please
think this over, and please give me this little gift.
-Barry
Well that seems like a nice young man,
at least most of the time. Well that is going to do it for today.
Check back tomorrow for more goodies, and the very last letter to
Santa.

It's Friday, the last day of the week
before Christmas. We are so close now that I can almost taste the
eggnog and fruit cake. Lets get into a Shoofly comic, a quick letter
to Santa, and then you can all get on with your day and get ready for
the weekend.
And here is yet another letter to
Santa.
Dear Santa,
I now that you are real busy this time
of year with all the letters and everything. And I know that people
are asking for all kinds of crazy things. But this year all I really
want is for the WWE superstar, The Miz, to become the WWE champion
again. I really liked him as champion and think he is a great talent
for the WWE. If you can make this happen at all, I would really
appreciate it. But if you can't do that, I would not mind a hot girl
in a red bow waiting for me under the tree to.
- Kevin
I too would really like to see that.
Well that will do if for today people, check back tomorrow for the
last Christmas Not @ All comic.

Five days to go, and as we get closer
and closer, I work harder and harder to finish stuff up. It's hard to
keep up on all the things that I have to do to prepare for Christmas,
among those being me working on finishing up the comics for the rest
of this year. And speaking of comics, lets get into some Shoofly.
And now here is another letter to
Santa.
Dear Santa,
Hey there big guy. I just wanted to
write to you and let you know that I happen to like big hairy guys.
And I find red and white to be very sexy colors. When you stop by my
house this year, I have much more then milk and cookies waiting for
you. I went out and bought a sexy little, and skimpy, outfit that I
think you will really like. There is more fabric in a dinner napkin
then there is in my special little outfit for you. Cant wait to see
you this year Santa, I will turn you from a saint into a sinner.
- Chuck
Ok, that one creeped even me out. Well
folks, thats it for today, I will see you all again tomorrow.

Six days to go until we get to open
presents people! I know I am sure as hell hoping for a stocking
loaded with money. Well enough about me and what I want for
Christmas, lets get to the goodies with today's Shoofly.
And now for another letter to Santa.
Dear Santa,
I'm just going to cut right to the
chase. I have been very bad this year, I know that. I have been in
fights, I have taken money from my brother, and switched my sisters
birth control pills with tic tacs. I shaved the cat, and I put gay
porn in my dads briefcase among other things. So I know that I am not
going to get anything this year. I am just writing this to tell you
that I loved every minute of it, and I will continue to do it. See I
figured something out fat boy, I don't need you anymore, I have
parents that will buy me things to try and keep me from going too
far. So you can take that lump of coal you got for me and stick it up
your ass. Bite me you fat sack of crap.
- Billy "The Bad Boy"
Well that is one kid that makes me wish
I was shooting blanks. Thanks for stopping by folks, I will catch you
tomorrow for more of what I got, and what you want .... Shoofly.

And we are now at seven days and
counting until the big day. It is really coming up on us fast, and I
am damn sure not ready. Still have plenty of presents that still need
to be wrapped, as well as a few handmade items that need to be
finished. What can I say, I am a procrastinator. Well enough about my
failure at the holidays, lets get in on some Shoofly.
Ok, lets take a peek at another
Christmas letter to ol' Saint Nick.
Dear Santa,
Hello there big guy, I am hoping that I
will have lots of presents under the Christmas tree this year. But
what I would really like to have this year is a new baby brother. And
I know I know, you will just tell me to talk to my mom and dad, but
the thing is, my dad is always away on business, and my mom just
locks herself away in her room. The odd thing is that is sounds like
she is shaving in there as it sounds like my dads razor. Often times
she comes out of there tired and complaining about my dad. This is
where you come in. See I have heard the song, I Saw Mommy Kissing
Santa Claus, and know that you have a reputation for this. I was
hoping that if I lit some candles, left out some wine, and and put on
a Barry White CD, like what my parents used to do, you could put a
baby in my momma like my daddy did. Anyways, thank you in advance for
taking this into consideration. And also give my thanks to Mrs. Claus
for pimping you out, as my friends older brother likes to say.
-Joel
And on that note, I think its best we
part ways for today. Thanks one and all for dropping by and I hope to
see you all again tomorrow for more of this holiday week here with
Shoofly.

And the count down begins ladies and
gentlemen. We are eight days until the big day, that awesome day
where we gather with family, good ones and bad, and open presents and
eat food. That's right, we are eight days from Christmas people. But
before that happens, lets check in with the gang from Shoofly and see
what is going on.
Well it looks like Manny may have
discovered the present that Sasha got for herself. So I know I do the
whole fan letters thing and all, but since we are this close to
Christmas, I wanted to try something else instead. I thought it would
be fun to put up some letters to Santa. Now you may be wondering how
I came into possession of these wonderful treasures. Well I know a
few people who wrote some letters and wanted the world to read them.
So lets see what the first one has in store for us.
Dear Santa,
I have been good this year, well as
good as I could be since I am a professional drunk. I did not get
into too many any fights, and only drank clear liquids, granted they
were of the vodka, rum, and gin variety. Now if you are wondering
about that arrest for public urination, well it was not my fault, as
I could have sworn that I was in a bathroom, and that the cops leg
was a urinal. But now he knows the difference between being pissed
off and being pissed on, just as I know the difference between life
beating me down and a burly cop beating me down. But the point of all
of that, was that I learned my lesson. Now to the point of this whole
letter, I was hoping that I could get a new liver, as the one I am
sporting seems to have seen better days, and has reached its limits
in the amount of alcohol it can now take. Thank you for your time,
and thank you even more if you actually read this letter instead of
just putting it through the shredder like I was expecting. Have a
Merry Christmas.

All right gang, that is going to do it

As much fun as Sunday is, it is also a
bit of a sad day, as it means the end of the weekend. So I will keep
this brief today so as not to cut into you weekend too much. I got a
new Christmas themed pinup for you guys.
This one kind of reminds me of my cat,
it is something he would have done back in the day. I even thought
about designing the cat to look my old cat, but instead thought it
better to just go classic gray, and save my cat for something else I
have in mind in the future.
Ok gang, I'll let you get back to your
Sunday, watch some football, meet some friends for lunch, or just go
and and play. Either way have fun and remember to come back again
tomorrow for some new Shoofly.

Welcome to Not @ All Saturdays fans and
fanettes!!! On this, your weekend of fun, I am grateful that you are
stopping by to check out a brand new Christmas themed Not @ All
comic.
This is yet another comic that was once
again a Christmas card for a friend. I am unsure as to if he still
has it or not. I have done a few hand drawn Christmas cards over the
years, for one reason I am very cheap, and the other being that it
seemed like a good idea at the time.
A quick note for you guys. I have put
up a Facebook page for those of you who like Facebook. Go ahead and
go on over and like the page. There may even be some exclusive
content on there from time to time.
Ok gang, I think we are done for the
day, so I will let you all go ahead and get back to your day. Go have
some fun and enjoy the weekend before it ends.

Friday, December 14, 2012
Well gang, we have made it to yet
another Friday, and have survived to yet another weekend. And I am
betting that this week was a hard one for a lot of you, so I get the
feeling that you will be looking forward to this weekend. But before
we get that, watching football, playing video games, and going to
parties and such, we must first get our daily dose of Shoofly.
Ok, two quick notes about this one here
today. First off, I had a blast doing this one, really putting myself
to the test with it. And for the most part I liked the way it all
came out except for that car that is sitting behind Justin up there.
But I have never been that good at cars, but am going to have to
continue to work on them. Now the second thing I want to point out
here, is that there is no joke in this one today, and that is a
little sign of some things to come. See, as much as I like doing the
humor, which I will continue to do, I also like telling a story. So I
am going to be throwing in some drama here and there to see if you
people will get to care about the characters in more then just a
comedy way.
Alright people, I will not keep you
here any longer, I know you want to get out there and get the weekend
started early. So go, have fun, live it up. But don't forget to take
time out to check in tomorrow for a new Not @ All.

And here we are at Thursday, with just
one more day between us and the weekend. And that also means that we
are just two Shoofly's from the weekend as well. And instead of me
yakking at you this whole time, lets just get right to it with the
first of said two Shoofly's.
Ok so I really liked the way these
panels turned out. When I was doing the layout I wanted to try and
get experimental, as well as use as much of the page as I could. In
the end I really enjoyed the final product.
Well lets get in to the mail bag and
see what I can find for today.
Dear DVid-
Will you ever explain how the mad
scientist guy created Manny?
- Paul
That is a very good question Paul, and
I can honestly say that I have no plans as of right now to reveal
Manny's origin. But that does not mean that later on it wont come up.
Since I am kind of flying buy the seat of my pants here I am never
sure where it is going, so I could get to a point where I want to, or
even need to, tell how Manny came into this world.
Well gang, I think we are done here for
today. Thanks for stopping by and checking out everything, come back
again tomorrow for more.

And Tuesday is here my friends and
fans. Slowly buy surely we are working our way back to the weekend,
and all the fun that it contains. Now without further adieu, here is
another new Shoofly for you to enjoy.
Ok, let me just say that this was one
of the hard panels I had to do for this week. See I am still getting
the hang of all of this, and trying to produce a comic on a schedule
does put a bit of a cramp in my style, as I always feel rushed. While
the feeling does help me get my stuff up on time, it does however
take a toll on the work as I am still learning. The Asian woman that
is going to work on Sasha's new hairdo, she was a tough one to draw,
as I had no idea when I started, what she would look like. Then
having to draw her twice, almost like the same panel, well that took
a bit to get it even remotely looking the same. Also I want to point
out that Sasha looks a bit different here, that is because I am still
working out the perfect shape for her. These are the down falls of
doing a comic without planning ahead. But it is still fun to make it
up as I go.
Ok gang, that is going to do it for
today, I will catch you all here again tomorrow for more Shoofly and
maybe even a fan letter.
-DVid

Hey hey everybody! Hope you all are
enjoying your Wednesday, whether it be hump day for you, or comic
day, or even just a day to sit back and chill with a hot cup of
something, or a cold cup of something. Either way, I hope it's all
working out for you. I am going to give you a little something now to
help make this day a good one for you ..... a new Shoofly.
Ok, so what do we all think of Sasha's
new hairdo? Now the reason I changed her hair, well there were two
reasons. One was that I thought it would be good for the story, I
mean a girl meets a guy, goes on a date with him, she is gonna wanna
look here best. Two was that I thought it would be easier in helping
me with the shape of her face, as I would always know how to do the
cheek, and little things like that. The only downside so far, is it
seems to have made much more work for me.... oh well.
Ok lets dig into that mail bag and see
what we got for today.
Dear DVid,
Thanks for bringing back Not @ All, I
really like that one, it kind of reminds me of the Far Side a bit.
Are there any other ideas that we might see in the future?
-Jake
Well Jake, I am glad you like Not @
All, I like it to. It is a great strip for me to place ideas that
just don't make sense anywhere else. I too loved the Far Side, and
despite the fact that everyone says you should hype yourself up to be
the best in the world, I am no Gary Larson. Far Side was a comic that
just had a special kind of magic to it, and I wish I had what he did.
As for the other part of your letter, yes, there will be stuff
showing up here in the future. Like I said before, Shoofly was a way
for me to do a comic, but also learn how to do a comic. But a unknown
until now fact, Shoofly is also a prequel to two ideas that I have
coming up in the future. I will share more about that as the time
grows near for them.
Well gang, lets go ahead and call it a
day, I will let you get back to your regularly scheduled routine of
choice. Check back tomorrow again for more Shoofly.

Monday, December 10, 2012
Happy Monday gang! I know, I know,
Mondays suck because most of you have to go back to work. And I know
how much work can suck. But at least you are getting paid, and the
sooner you start the week, the sooner the week can be over. Now to
help get you through that hard day, I have a new Shoofly for you,
lets check it out.
Well it looks like Sasha has gotten
herself a hot date, lets hope Marty and Manny don't do anything to
screw this up for her.
Well I have spent the last week working
on drawings, not really realizing just how much work goes into being
a cartoonist. Coming up with ideas is tough enough, but then drawing
them in pencil, and having to go back and ink it, then add the paint
and all. Boy it really eats up alot of your time, one minute you are
just getting up to start working, then the next, its time for bed.
But in the end, I don't think I would trade it for anything in world.
Even if only three people enjoyed my work, it is well worth the
labor, just to know that somewhere out there, someone is getting a
kick out of the stuff that I like to draw and write.
Ok gang, that is going to do it for
today. Don't forget to check in again tomorrow for more Shoofly.

Sunday, December 9, 2012
Happy Sunday gang! I know it is sad
that it is the last day of the weekend, so I hope you all are going
to enjoy it. Well lets get to things shall we. Here is a pinup for
today, something that goes along with the whole festive theme of the
season.
I gotta admit I drew this one for two
simple reasons, one of them being that it was a simple drawing to do,
but from some reason a pain to color. The other reason is that I am
really hoping for snow soon, I love the snow just as much as I love
the rain.
Well now I did promise you all
something else special, so I wrote out a quick little Christmas poem,
probably not the last one of this holiday season, enjoy.
The trees go up,
covered in lights,
strung with tinsel,
and Christmas delights;
Snow falls from the skies,
covering the streets,
and people hit the stores,
for holiday treats;
Christmas fast approaches
growing ever more near
with the hearts of people
filling with Christmas cheer.
Alright then folks, that is going to do
it for today. Come back again tomorrow for more cool things and
another new edition of Shoofly.

What's up fans and fanettes!!! It is
Saturday, and that means we get a new Not @ All cartoon to go with
this wonder day of no work for some of you out there. Today's cartoon
is one that I have had for a long time, I even made it as a home made
Christmas card from someone one year, and ten bucks says they aint
got it no more. Well here it is folks, enjoy.
I hope you all got a kick out of that
one. Now lets dip in the mail bag and see what we got for today.
Dear DVid,
I love your art, its cute, like you. If
you are every in
the market for a single woman who loves artists
let
me know as I would most interested in meeting you .... ;-).
-Greta
Well gosh Greta, thank you for the
wonder comments and that cute little winky face. I very much
appreciate the offer, and if I am ever in the need of a single woman
I will let you know. But right now I am committed to two things that
take up alot of my time, one being my art, and the other being a
certain someone who I hope does not hit me for answering this letter.
All right gang, I said early this week
that I was working on setting up a shop for you all to buy
merchandise with my art on it. Well the good news is that I got it
up, the bad news is that there is not alot of time before Christmas,
so hurry up and do some ordering. Right now there are only a few
images on there, I will add some new designs in the future, as well
as subtract a few here and there if they are not selling that well.
Ok then people, it is time to call it a
day, and I thank you all for stopping by. Check back tomorrow for a
little pinup and maybe something else kind of special.

Friday, December 7, 2012
Well gang we have made it to Friday,
the end of the week, and the start of the weekend. I'm sure alot of
you out there are excited about the weekend, I know I can't wait to
get it started. But before we get there we have to first check out
this new Shoofly.
Yeah I know that today's comic was a
bit lazy, but every now and then you have to do one that is kind of
like that so you can get to work on the other comics. Either way, I
love the image of a giant snow butt, infact I love it so much that I
am waiting for it to snow so I can make one in my vary own yard.
Just a quick little geek out here. Am I
the only one here that is super excited about Hobbit? I liked the
LOTR trilogy alright, I mean I am not a huge huge fan like alot of
the people out there, but I did enjoy the movies. But for some
reason, Hobbit seems to look really good to me. Now I know a few
people who are not looking forward to it, in fact one person in
particular said they would never see the movie with me, which is fine
because I would never watch a cool movie like that with some one who
would just bring me down during the movie anyways. But this movie
seems like it is going to be alot more fun then the first three. Well
that is it for me geeking out today.
Alright gang, that is going to do it
for today, I'll see ya all again tomorrow.

Thursday, December 6, 2012
And a good Thursday to you all out
there. A wonderful welcome to all the returning people, and a special
thank you, for all the new comers. Well let's get right into the
reason you are here.... Shoofly.
I forgot to bring up yesterday the
introduction of our new character, the love interest as Marty calls
him. I brought him in for a couple of reasons, one because I wrote
myself into a corner with the giant cockroach. At first I liked the
idea of the a giant cockroach, but then I was not too please with the
way he turned out, and also thought that I had too many giant animals
as it is right now. So I brought in the exterminator to take care of
it. Then I thought it would be a cool idea to have Sasha fall for
him, which would give me to opportunity to turn this into more then
just a joke a day kind of comic strip. I could add a bit more depth
with my stories. It is something that I hope everyone will like as
much I am I liking the idea.
Alright let us crack open the old mail
bag and see what we can find.
Dear DVid,
I like the new look of Shoofly, it has
a bit of a
comic book feel to it now. I remember you saying
that you
were a comic book fan and that you were
inspired by comic book
artists. What are some of your
favorite comics and who are some of
your favorite talents?
-Carl
Hey thanks Carl, and by the way you
share the same name as one of my favorite under used Simpson
characters. I am glad that you took the time to write, and I like
that you are feeling the new look to the strip. I love it myself, it
gives me alot more freedom with the panels and makes things super
simple to draw now. Which is funny to me, that three panel strip was
harder to do then a comic book style strip. As far as some of my
favorite comics and such, I just finished up Jonathan Hickman's run
on Fantastic Four, which I loved. I am also reading, Supergirl,
Wonder Woman, Batman, Wolverine and the X-Men, The Walking Dead,
Invincible, and anything I can find by James Robinson. There are so
many writers and artists I am fans of that it is hard to name them
all so I will just name a few here. I love the works of Darwyn Cooke,
Alan Moore, Todd Nauck, Mike Wieringo, Jeff Smith, James Robinson,
Peter David, Mark Waid, Scott McDaniel, Sam Keith, and of course Will
Eisner and the king Jack Kirby.
Well folks, that is going to do it for
today, thanks again for dropping by and I will see you all back again
tomorrow.

It is Wednesday, and we are very near
to the end of the week. I'm sure alot of you out there are looking
forward to the weekend, got all kinds of plans for fun and good
times. Me? Well I try to have a little fun here and there, but mostly
I also like to work on my art as well. And speaking of my art, I
think its time for a new Shoofly, enjoy.
Ok gang I got some news for ya. I am
working on some stuff to put up on Cafepress for my little shop. I'm
hoping to have it all ready by this weekend so I can share the link
and you can buy some Shoofly and Not @ All merchandise for Christmas.
I hope that got at least some of you out there excited, the ones that
didn't, get on the band wagon.
Well I am going to keep this one short
today since I still have alot of work to do on the shop. I'll catch
you all back here again tomorrow for more Shoofly.

Tuesday, December 4, 2012
Alright gang, I see that you are all
here for another comic, and you are in luck as I have a new Shoofly
comic for you all, enjoy.
And now I have a couple of things today
for you, one being a fan letter, which we will get to now.
Dear DVid,
What inspires you to create the things
that you do?
-Mark
Well Mark, I like the bluntness of you
letter, just right to the point. I have stated in the past that I am
a comic book fan, so comic really inspired me to want to draw. I also
grew up on a steady diet of cartoons, sitcoms, movies, and pro
wrestling. I like comic strips a little when I was a kid, but did not
really get into them until I got older. To name just a few of the
stand outs, I loved the Young Justice comic, Fantastic Four,
Spider-Man. All of Joss Whedons TV shows, any comic book related TV
show or cartoon, Simpsons, King of the Hill. And that is just to name
a few things.
Well as for the other thing, I am
giving you a special quick little sketch that I did for you guys.
Before we go, I would just like to
point out that I know that the current story going on with Shoofly
may not seem like it has a holiday theme, but it does take place
during December, so that kind of counts. Ok gang, that's going to do
it for today, I'll see you all back here again tomorrow, until then,
happy holiday shopping.

Monday, December 3, 2012
It's Monday again my friends and with
it brings a brand new Shoofly cartoon for you all to enjoy.
As I write this the rain is pouring
down outside, something I as you know I really enjoy. However all the
news channels keep telling me that it is going to flood, which would
be bad because it would ruin my comic collection. Oh yeah and it
would be bad for all the houses it would ruin to.
Well folks, we are two days closer to
Christmas, and yet I have done about two percent of my Christmas
shopping. I really had hoped that I would have been able to get it
all done before the the Christmas rush, but it looks like I will have
to go out in the hustle and bustle of the crowds and fight my way to
the gifts. Thankfully I have my little haven here on the net where I
can come and find the peace I will need to survive shopping.
Well I am going to cut today a little
short as I am in a rush to go out and get gifts, as well as finish up
the last few strips for the holidays. I would hate to get late again
friends. So I will see you all tomorrow.

Sunday, December 2, 2012
Happy Sunday folks, I hope that you all
have been enjoying your weekend so far. Today I got a little drawing
for you in the spirit of the holidays. I think that it captures a
major part of what makes up how we all see the holidays now. Enjoy.
Well now, does that not just about sum
it all up. A girl shopping in the mall. Well lets do a quick fan
letter then I will let you all go on about your day.
Dear DVid,
So far so good. Shoofly is pretty funny
and I am starting
to like the art more and more. Why are you doing
black and white and not color though?
-Dan
Hey Dan, thanks for liking the strip,
and thanks for liking the art. It is always nice to hear from people
who like my work, it really means alot to an artist, no matter how
hard the may try and pretend it does not matter. Having fans is the
best part of being an artist or a writer in my opinion. It can make
you feel like you are actually doing something important. So I am
glad that you, as well as all the others out there, are writing and
telling me how you feel. Now as far as the black and white goes, I
just liked the way the first one turned out when I did it. Black and
white is a little easier to do as well, since I only have to deal
with a few colors.
Alright then gang, lets call it a day.
Thanks for dropping by gang, hope you all come back again tomorrow.

Saturday, December 1, 2012
Happy Saturday everybody! Boy it has
been a little while since I last posted on this day. I know some of
you may be confused by the fact that I am here putting up some work
on a weekend. Let me just say that this is not a mistake, it is the
first day in the schedule. So lets get on with it, here is a new Not
@ All cartoon .... enjoy =)
Well? Was it good for you? I sure hope
so. Ok so as you can tell by the cartoon up there, it is the first
day of December, and just a few weeks from my very second favorite
holiday, Christmas. As it should already be known, Halloween is my
favorite of the holiday's out there. But coming in at a close second
is Christmas. I just like the feeling in the air, the cool chill, the
joy and excitement that is on most peoples faces, the wonderful
lights, and of course the presents are nice as well. It is one of
those things that is hard to explain, and much more fun to
experience. So since we are in the midst of the season, I thought I
would try and put as much holiday cheer, smiles, and laughs, into
this months cartoons as I can.
Alright folks, I am going to call it
day here, I thank you all for joining me yet again. Don't forget to
check in tomorrow for some more wonderful things. Until then, take
care.

Friday, November 30, 2012
Today is the last day of November, and
the last Shoofly cartoon for the week. I hope you all brought your
smiles, if not you can always borrow one off the rack, just make sure
to clean it first as you never know where those things have been.
Lets get to a quick letter before I
start with my daily routine of talking everyone to death.
Dear DVid,
I saw that some one was talking bad
about your work
and wanted to write to let you know that I like it
and am a fan. I liked the way you handled it by the way,
not flying
off the handle and insulting him, but simply
putting him in his
place.
-Sarah
Well Sarah, thank you very much for
being a fan, it is nice to know that I am starting to build a fan
base. I was unsure as to if I would ever find anyone out there would
liked my work, but it seems I do not have to worry any longer. I am
glad you liked the way I handled the guy who hated me, I thought it
was best to be as polite as I could, but still pointing out the flaws
in his logic of writing to me. In case anyone is wondering, I posted
his nasty letter because I don't want people to think I am just
putting up the ones that love me, or taking out the negative
comments. Plus it is not so bad for people to hate you, as Todd
McFarlane once said, "the worst thing they can do is ignore
you."
Well gang I don't want to keep you here
all day, so I am going to touch on a few things really quick then let
you all go on with your day. First off I want to remind everyone that
tomorrow will start the new schedule of seven days a week. So make
sure to come back for a brand new Not @ All cartoon. Also Sunday I
have something for you all as well that I hope you will come back to
check out.
Ok now I guess we should call it a day.
Until tomorrow, take care.

Thursday, November 29, 2012
Welcome back everyone, on this, the
last Thursday of the month. Only one day left now until we are in the
final month of the year 2012. As it always seems to, this year has
gone by in the blink of an eye. So with out any further adieu, here
is today's edition of Shoofly....
Yesterday I made mention of a surprise
I had in store for everyone. Well that surprise is going to be coming
up this weekend. I have built up enough of a stock pile of cartoons,
and have gotten fast enough, I think at least, that I am going to
expand from five days a week, to seven days a week. It will start
with Not @ All returning on Saturdays. Then on Sundays, it will vary
from different pinups, to poetry, and whatever else I dream up and
decide to put up on here. Starting this weekend, the beginning of
December, we will kick things off with Christmas themed Not @ All
cartoons and pinups.
Well I got time for one fan letter
today, so lets get to it.
Dear DVid,
Who were your influences and where did
you learn to draw?
- Kevin
Well Kevin, I have given a few of my
influences on here in the past, but in case you missed them I will
give brief run down of them again. Jim Davis was a huge one for me,
as Garfield was the first comic strip I remember ever looking at.
Later I got into The Far Side, Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes, and such.
When I got into comics there were alot of great artists and books
that also inspired me to pick up the pencil. Learning to draw was
great as I had alot of wonderful books that have helped me along the
way. The fact is, I still look at them for help every now and then.
The big one for me is a guy named Christopher Hart. He puts out a
butt load of books on how to draw, and for some reason his books
seemed to help me out the best. So he is the guy I like to recommend
to people who are looking to learn how to draw. I have others as
well, but I don't wanna ramble too much.
Well that will do it for today gang,
check in again tomorrow for more Shoofly and more of my nonsense.
Until then, take care.

Wednesday, November 28, 2012
Well we have made it to the middle of
week folks. I hope your week is blowing by as fast as mine is, I can
not believe we are almost done with this week, this month, and very
soon, this year. I don't know about any of you, but I am keeping my
fingers crossed that the Mayan calender was all just a big mistake
and we will get to see 2013. Well enough with that, lets get on with
the whole reason you are here ...... Shoofly!
Now before a I answer a fan letter, I
wanted to bring something up. I always bring up the fact that I have
ideas for things in future. Well one of those ideas I am going to be
running by you now to see if anyone is interested in them. Ok, so one
idea I thought would be a little fun to try would be contests where I
gave away prizes like original art, and other fun little things.
Alright now let me dig deep into the
mail bag and see what I can find for today.
Dear DVid,
Not a fan of yours at all. Your art
sucks and I can not
believe that people like this crap. You are not
funny
and again your not a good artist, I think you
should just give
it up.
-Richard
Well Dick, do you mind if I call you
Dick? Good. So Dick, thank you for taking the time to voice your
opinion, although I may disagree with you, and might know a few
people who disagree as well. I happen to like my art, and feel that I
am getting better with each strip I draw. I hope others are out there
enjoying my work as much as I am, and I also hope to one day make a
little money doing this. Well now that I got that out I have a
question for you. Why would you take the time to write to me and tell
this stuff instead of just going on with you life and never coming
back to my blog? Hmmm, I don't know Dick. Well Dick, you have a
wonderful day now Dick, and take care of yourself Dick.
Dear DVid,
Are you as cute as the drawings you
do of yourself?
And more importantly are you single?
-Cindy
Well Cindy, first off thank you for
taking the time to write, and also thank you for sending me something
nice. You know I did not know I did that many drawings of myself, but
I guess I did. I usually tend to stay away form self portraits as I
do not have as high opinion of my looks as you do. So to answer your
questions, I don't think I'm as cute as my drawings, but then again
you may have a differing opinion. And no I am not single, some how I
managed to find someone who is capable of putting up with me, for now
at least, and seems to find me mildly attractive. But thanks anyways
for the ego boost.
All right ladies and gentlemen, that
will do it for this Wednesday. I hope to find you all back here again
on Thursday for another cartoon, maybe a few more letters, and some
news I hope you will all find to be pleasing to the eyes and mind.
Until then, take care.
-DVid
Tuesday, November 27, 2012
It's all the excitement of the ball pit
at the kids playground in a pizzeria. Hitting that last ball in the
last round at a miniature golf course. Well it is to me at least, I
have no idea what you guys feel, but I am hoping you feel the same as
I do. Now lets get to the point of why you are here, the good old
strip known as Shoofly.
Well it's Tuesday and we are getting
closer to the end of November and the start of December. That means
we are getting closer to Christmas. And of course you can start to
feel it out there. One of my favorite holidays, my second favorite to
be exact. But I will get more into that later in the week, for now
lets get to a couple of fan letters.
Dear DVid,
Hey man, just wanted to say I am
looking forward
seeing where this strip is going, it is actually kind
of fun.
Sorry if I sound so surprised by that, but I was unsure in
the
very beginning. These new characters are kind of interesting,
how
long did it take you to come up with them?
-Pete
Hey Pete, don't worry about seeming
surprised by the fact that you like the new strip, I am just glad to
hear that you like it. These characters all kind of came about by
accident, all that is except Marty the fly, he was someone that I
have had since I was a kid. I wish I still had some of the early
comics that I could share on here.
Dear DVid,
I keep hearing about all of these
new plans you have in store
for this blog, but have yet to see any of
them. What is the deal?
Are you just pulling our collective chains?
-Ian
No Ian, I am not pulling anybody's
chain. On of the plans I had in store is this whole fan letter thing
that I am doing right now. So be happy young man...or boy....or
whatever you are, you are part of the new plans. As far as the other
plans, well some of those you will be seeing very very soon.
Well that is going to do if for today
gang. It has been fun, check back again tomorrow for more Shoofly.
Until then, as always, take care.
