Welcome fans to Saturdays blog. I hope you all enjoyed the last Shoofly, I know I had alot of fun trying to figure out what I was going to do with it, as well as a lot of fun drawing it. I ended the comic because I just had no clue where I was going to take it, and was getting more and more ideas for another comic, the one that will be taking over pretty soon. When I fell behind on it, I thought it was going to be alot harder to keep up, since I was finding it hard to write, because I never planned it out, and I was have a hard time finding time to draw everything. But with the new one coming up, Minimum Wage, I have a story, and jokes, kind of planned out in advance, and my time has freed up a bit, as pretty much all of the people I hang out with do nothing but sleep, giving me more then enough time to work. And in Minimum Wage, Sasha will be one of the cast members. Now as far as Manny and Marty go, well I will be doing something with them, I am just not sure yet as to what that something is going to be. But as soon as I figure it out, well then you will be the second ones to know. So I will be working on MW, but until it is ready I will be giving Not @ All a five day a week schedule. So check back on Monday and see what odd things having running through my head as of late. Until then, take it easy out there people.

Howdy folks, DVid here to present the last episode of Shoofly. Now this is not a sad thing, as I said before, all of these characters will be back in some form or another. I thought since I was going to end it, I would end it with a big bang, and what is bigger a bang then ending it with Sasha saying she is preggers. So tomorrow I will kind of go into detail, or as much as I can, about what the future holds for this little haven of mine.

Well ladies and germs, this is the last Shoofly before the big finale. How will I decide to end Shoofly, and what will become of the characters? You will have to keep coming back to see what I decide to do.

This joke is much funnier if you know me at all. And there are a few of you out there that do.

Hope you all had a wonderful New Year, and are now fully prepared to get 2013 going. Im glad the world did not come to and end, however, now I must also figure out what to do with my comics. I have a few plans in mind, but now is not the time to get into them. But soon I promise.

Holy crap am I tired! I hate falling behind on this comic, but at the same time I love it. This is by far one of my favorite comics that I have drawn. It was just so much fun to draw, and so much fun to plot out. I will be spending New Years day today, playing a few video games, watching a Dark Knight marathon, and most importantly, working on this comic, as I want to do everything in my power to reproduce the amount of fun and love that went into this page. Hope you all have a wonderful New Year.

Hope this one does not come off as too weird, it really shouldn't, but I wanted to try something different with the background and captions. Also I worked like hell to get Sasha looking right, and it was damn hard to get her to look even decent. The hardest part of being an artist, to me at least, is getting the images from your head to look as good as they do on paper, so to speak. All and all, not a bad effort for another rush job, and in the end I can walk away happy with it.

Thursday, December 27, 2012

Just a quick not for everyone. The past few strips, and even some of the future ones are going to be kind of rushed. So I am going to be cutting back on a few things, mainly the written parts of the blog, and the Sunday pinups, and maybe even the Not @ All stuff. I want, need, and think that people deserve art that had been better prepared and had more time put into it. There is more I want to say, but will be holding back for now so I can further explain some future plans I have in store.

Hey ya out there in internet land! DVid here on the day after Christmas to wish you a happy and healthy rest of the year. The presents are all unwrapped, and by now we have either stood in the a crowded area in the hopes of returning that one crappy gift that we all got. As well as playing with all the new goodies that we got. Some where in between all of that, I have found the time to do today's Shoofly comic. One that I have to admit that I rushed through. So as of right now I have no idea how it turned out as I am in the midst of fighting off the sandman as I type, so as I can put this comic up on time. Hell I dont even have a caption for this one. But the important thing is that I got it up.

And with that, I think it is time we call it a day, or night, depending on what part of the country you are on. Untill next time, I will catch ya all later.

And a merry Christmas to you all out there. I hope you have all awakened to wonderful gifts and all the things that your heart did desire. Well now that the mushy crap is out of the way let us move on to some other business. I am about to start work on the after Christmas stuff of Shoofly, and if I can ever pull myself away from my game, I will start mapping out some of next years story lines. That's right, there will be story lines. Im not going to say what I have in mind, as it can change before I put it down on paper, or computer screen as it would seem to be with me. But it is some stuff that I am hoping will gather the attention of more people so we can really start to build a much larger audience. Now before I let you all go here, I do have another Christmas poem to share, a quick one that I jotted down. Here it is.

It is here, it is here,A time of joy,
A time of cheer,
all the girls,
and all the boys,
wake up early,
to play with toys,
in the kitchen,
cooks a turkey,
cooks a ham,
for its is Christmas sir,
it is Christmas ma'am,
fill a cup,
and have sip,
pour some brandy,
and have a nip,
maybe just a slice,
of the fruit cake,
would be nice,
still in the kitchen,
dinner cooks,
turkey, beef or ham,
for it is Christmas sir,
it is Christmas ma'am.

Alright then gang, that is going to do it for Christmas with Shoofly. Sorry I did not have a funny cartoon for you, but sometimes it is damn hard to write something funny every day, as you can tell from my track record. Anyways, have a good rest of the holiday, and check on back again tomorrow.

A Merry Christmas Eve to you all out there in the internet land. This was a tough one to do today, as I have recently rented a new game that I wanted to try out before I decided to go out and buy, and the game has slowly but surely taken over my life. But I made sure to make time to do some drawing, and update this ol home of the characters of Shoofly. I also have a little poem that I would like to share with you all here today, just a little something that I jotted down for the Christmas season. A quick side note about tomorrow. See with tomorrow being Christmas and all, and me having some major trouble coming up with something cool for a Christmas comic, I drew up something that does not really tie into this story. But I still want to try and do one that does tie in. So I am going to try my hardest to come up with something extra for everyone, but if not I do have some goodies for Christmas.

And now let us end with a little Christmas Eve poem that I put down on paper for you.

Upon this wonderful night,
one is to believe,
that magic does exist,
here on Christmas eve,
For it is this night of all,
when you'll hear bells that jingle,
as fast he approaches,
him, Kris Kringle,
A man of such girth and wonder,
who will holler out ho's,
while the children slumber,
He will slide down the chimney,
a sack full of goodies,
only to stop,
for some milk and cookies.

Alright then folks, that will do it for today, check back again tomorrow for the Christmas special, and to all a wonderful night.

Friday, December 21, 2012

It's Friday, the last day of the week before Christmas. We are so close now that I can almost taste the eggnog and fruit cake. Lets get into a Shoofly comic, a quick letter to Santa, and then you can all get on with your day and get ready for the weekend.

And here is yet another letter to Santa.

Dear Santa,

I now that you are real busy this time of year with all the letters and everything. And I know that people are asking for all kinds of crazy things. But this year all I really want is for the WWE superstar, The Miz, to become the WWE champion again. I really liked him as champion and think he is a great talent for the WWE. If you can make this happen at all, I would really appreciate it. But if you can't do that, I would not mind a hot girl in a red bow waiting for me under the tree to.

- Kevin

I too would really like to see that. Well that will do if for today people, check back tomorrow for the last Christmas Not @ All comic.

Thursday, December 20, 2012

Five days to go, and as we get closer and closer, I work harder and harder to finish stuff up. It's hard to keep up on all the things that I have to do to prepare for Christmas, among those being me working on finishing up the comics for the rest of this year. And speaking of comics, lets get into some Shoofly.

And now here is another letter to Santa.

Dear Santa,

Hey there big guy. I just wanted to write to you and let you know that I happen to like big hairy guys. And I find red and white to be very sexy colors. When you stop by my house this year, I have much more then milk and cookies waiting for you. I went out and bought a sexy little, and skimpy, outfit that I think you will really like. There is more fabric in a dinner napkin then there is in my special little outfit for you. Cant wait to see you this year Santa, I will turn you from a saint into a sinner.

- Chuck

Ok, that one creeped even me out. Well folks, thats it for today, I will see you all again tomorrow.

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

Six days to go until we get to open presents people! I know I am sure as hell hoping for a stocking loaded with money. Well enough about me and what I want for Christmas, lets get to the goodies with today's Shoofly.

And now for another letter to Santa.

Dear Santa,

I'm just going to cut right to the chase. I have been very bad this year, I know that. I have been in fights, I have taken money from my brother, and switched my sisters birth control pills with tic tacs. I shaved the cat, and I put gay porn in my dads briefcase among other things. So I know that I am not going to get anything this year. I am just writing this to tell you that I loved every minute of it, and I will continue to do it. See I figured something out fat boy, I don't need you anymore, I have parents that will buy me things to try and keep me from going too far. So you can take that lump of coal you got for me and stick it up your ass. Bite me you fat sack of crap.

- Billy "The Bad Boy"

Well that is one kid that makes me wish I was shooting blanks. Thanks for stopping by folks, I will catch you tomorrow for more of what I got, and what you want .... Shoofly.

Tuesday, December 11, 2012

And Tuesday is here my friends and fans. Slowly buy surely we are working our way back to the weekend, and all the fun that it contains. Now without further adieu, here is another new Shoofly for you to enjoy.

Ok, let me just say that this was one of the hard panels I had to do for this week. See I am still getting the hang of all of this, and trying to produce a comic on a schedule does put a bit of a cramp in my style, as I always feel rushed. While the feeling does help me get my stuff up on time, it does however take a toll on the work as I am still learning. The Asian woman that is going to work on Sasha's new hairdo, she was a tough one to draw, as I had no idea when I started, what she would look like. Then having to draw her twice, almost like the same panel, well that took a bit to get it even remotely looking the same. Also I want to point out that Sasha looks a bit different here, that is because I am still working out the perfect shape for her. These are the down falls of doing a comic without planning ahead. But it is still fun to make it up as I go.

Ok gang, that is going to do it for today, I will catch you all here again tomorrow for more Shoofly and maybe even a fan letter.

Thursday, December 6, 2012

And a good Thursday to you all out there. A wonderful welcome to all the returning people, and a special thank you, for all the new comers. Well let's get right into the reason you are here.... Shoofly.

I forgot to bring up yesterday the introduction of our new character, the love interest as Marty calls him. I brought him in for a couple of reasons, one because I wrote myself into a corner with the giant cockroach. At first I liked the idea of the a giant cockroach, but then I was not too please with the way he turned out, and also thought that I had too many giant animals as it is right now. So I brought in the exterminator to take care of it. Then I thought it would be a cool idea to have Sasha fall for him, which would give me to opportunity to turn this into more then just a joke a day kind of comic strip. I could add a bit more depth with my stories. It is something that I hope everyone will like as much I am I liking the idea.

Alright let us crack open the old mail bag and see what we can find.

Dear DVid,

I like the new look of Shoofly, it has a bit of a
comic book feel to it now. I remember you saying
that you were a comic book fan and that you were
inspired by comic book artists. What are some of your
favorite comics and who are some of your favorite talents?

-Carl

Hey thanks Carl, and by the way you share the same name as one of my favorite under used Simpson characters. I am glad that you took the time to write, and I like that you are feeling the new look to the strip. I love it myself, it gives me alot more freedom with the panels and makes things super simple to draw now. Which is funny to me, that three panel strip was harder to do then a comic book style strip. As far as some of my favorite comics and such, I just finished up Jonathan Hickman's run on Fantastic Four, which I loved. I am also reading, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Batman, Wolverine and the X-Men, The Walking Dead, Invincible, and anything I can find by James Robinson. There are so many writers and artists I am fans of that it is hard to name them all so I will just name a few here. I love the works of Darwyn Cooke, Alan Moore, Todd Nauck, Mike Wieringo, Jeff Smith, James Robinson, Peter David, Mark Waid, Scott McDaniel, Sam Keith, and of course Will Eisner and the king Jack Kirby.

Well folks, that is going to do it for today, thanks again for dropping by and I will see you all back again tomorrow.

Wednesday, December 5, 2012

It is Wednesday, and we are very near to the end of the week. I'm sure alot of you out there are looking forward to the weekend, got all kinds of plans for fun and good times. Me? Well I try to have a little fun here and there, but mostly I also like to work on my art as well. And speaking of my art, I think its time for a new Shoofly, enjoy.

Ok gang I got some news for ya. I am working on some stuff to put up on Cafepress for my little shop. I'm hoping to have it all ready by this weekend so I can share the link and you can buy some Shoofly and Not @ All merchandise for Christmas. I hope that got at least some of you out there excited, the ones that didn't, get on the band wagon.

Well I am going to keep this one short today since I still have alot of work to do on the shop. I'll catch you all back here again tomorrow for more Shoofly.

Friday, November 30, 2012

Today is the last day of November, and the last Shoofly cartoon for the week. I hope you all brought your smiles, if not you can always borrow one off the rack, just make sure to clean it first as you never know where those things have been.

Lets get to a quick letter before I start with my daily routine of talking everyone to death.

Dear DVid,

I saw that some one was talking bad about your work
and wanted to write to let you know that I like it
and am a fan. I liked the way you handled it by the way,
not flying off the handle and insulting him, but simply
putting him in his place.

-Sarah

Well Sarah, thank you very much for being a fan, it is nice to know that I am starting to build a fan base. I was unsure as to if I would ever find anyone out there would liked my work, but it seems I do not have to worry any longer. I am glad you liked the way I handled the guy who hated me, I thought it was best to be as polite as I could, but still pointing out the flaws in his logic of writing to me. In case anyone is wondering, I posted his nasty letter because I don't want people to think I am just putting up the ones that love me, or taking out the negative comments. Plus it is not so bad for people to hate you, as Todd McFarlane once said, "the worst thing they can do is ignore you."

Well gang I don't want to keep you here all day, so I am going to touch on a few things really quick then let you all go on with your day. First off I want to remind everyone that tomorrow will start the new schedule of seven days a week. So make sure to come back for a brand new Not @ All cartoon. Also Sunday I have something for you all as well that I hope you will come back to check out.

Ok now I guess we should call it a day. Until tomorrow, take care.

-DVid

Thursday, November 29, 2012

Welcome back everyone, on this, the last Thursday of the month. Only one day left now until we are in the final month of the year 2012. As it always seems to, this year has gone by in the blink of an eye. So with out any further adieu, here is today's edition of Shoofly....

Yesterday I made mention of a surprise I had in store for everyone. Well that surprise is going to be coming up this weekend. I have built up enough of a stock pile of cartoons, and have gotten fast enough, I think at least, that I am going to expand from five days a week, to seven days a week. It will start with Not @ All returning on Saturdays. Then on Sundays, it will vary from different pinups, to poetry, and whatever else I dream up and decide to put up on here. Starting this weekend, the beginning of December, we will kick things off with Christmas themed Not @ All cartoons and pinups.

Well I got time for one fan letter today, so lets get to it.

Dear DVid,

Who were your influences and where did you learn to draw?

- Kevin

Well Kevin, I have given a few of my influences on here in the past, but in case you missed them I will give brief run down of them again. Jim Davis was a huge one for me, as Garfield was the first comic strip I remember ever looking at. Later I got into The Far Side, Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes, and such. When I got into comics there were alot of great artists and books that also inspired me to pick up the pencil. Learning to draw was great as I had alot of wonderful books that have helped me along the way. The fact is, I still look at them for help every now and then. The big one for me is a guy named Christopher Hart. He puts out a butt load of books on how to draw, and for some reason his books seemed to help me out the best. So he is the guy I like to recommend to people who are looking to learn how to draw. I have others as well, but I don't wanna ramble too much.

Well that will do it for today gang, check in again tomorrow for more Shoofly and more of my nonsense. Until then, take care.
